Overview of Community Action
Community Action for Wyoming County, Inc. is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1995 to fight the causes of poverty by providing a variety of services and advocacy for County residents. The fifteen member Board of Directors consists of volunteers with equal representation from the private sector, elected officials and the low income sector.
Community Action's Goals Are To:
- Encourage the development of individuals and families
- Seek government and private resources to assist people in meeting their needs
- Advocate on behalf of our customers to receive all benefits to which they are entitled
- Coordinate and cooperate with other private and government agencies to eliminate duplication, focus effort and maximize funding to assist residents living in poverty
- Promote and encourage economic development
- Respond to people in need
Mission Statement
Community Action for Wyoming County, Inc. has an important and unique contribution to make in improving the quality of life for all Wyoming County Residents through focusing on meeting the needs of the low income and disadvantaged population and in promoting the personal and family growth of our constituents as they move toward self-sufficiency.
