Funding is available through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) to help people increase their earning potential.  Funding can be used for classroom training or on-the-job training.

You do not need to meet eligibility requirements to access Job Seeking Services

You may be eligible for WIA funding.  Click in your category to read about Federal rules. 

Adult Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must:

  • be 18 years of age, or older;
  • earn less than $25,000 per year;
           
    and
  • be a US Citizen
  • (if you've been notified of a lay-off, you might qualify as a dislocated worker.  Call for more details.)

To be considered for funding, an individual should demonstrate: 

  • an inability to find employment based on current skills/experience
           
    or
  • for those people already working, that they cannot advance in their career without additional training

You are probably a good candidate if you:

  • can show good, recent work history
  • are interested in training that is directly related to employment in a field where you can earn above minimum wage to start -or increase your present earnings
  • you have a plan for daycare and transportation

Youth Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must be:

  • between the ages of 14 and not more than age 21;
  • low income; and
  • one or more of the following:
      * Deficient in basic literacy skills
      * A school dropout
      * Homeless, a runaway, or a foster child
      * Pregnant or a parent
      * An offender
      * Requires additional assistance to complete an educational program
      * Requires additional assistance to secure and hold employment

Title V Older Worker Eligibility:

Title V is a Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) funded through New York State Office for the Aging. It is designed to assist persons 55 and over with Temporary Subsidized Employment while working with them to obtain Unsubsidized Employment.

You may be eligible if:

  1. You are Age 55 or over.

  2. You fall below the income guidelines listed below.

Up to 25% of Social Security and Old Age Survivor benefits may be disregarded.
